This is a tour not only visiting Orkney but staying on Orkney! The largest of this archipelago of around 70 islands, is known as The Mainland and our base for this tour is Stromness, which is located in the south of West Mainland. Orkney is a land of breathtaking beauty with world-class archaeology, thriving local arts, crafts and music and a rich diversity of wildlife and has a lot to offer its visitors.

Tuesday : We enjoy our outward journey making suitable stops en-route to Strathpeffer and on to the Ben Wyvis Hotel.
Wednesday : We leave Strathpeffer and make the journey to Gill’s Bay Ferry Terminal in time for our ferry to Orkney. Upon arrival at St. Margaret’s, Hope we meet our guide and this afternoon we take time to visit: Churchill Barriers; Italian Chapel; Bishop’s and Earl’s Palaces and St. Magnus Cathedral before making our way to the Stromness Hotel, our base for the next 3 nights.
Thursday : We leave the hotel with our guide this morning and make visits to the Cliffs of Yesnaby; Skara Brae; Skaill House; Ring of Brodgar; Standing Stones of Stenness. Enjoy an included soup & sandwich lunch at the Standing Stones Hotel. This afternoon our visits take us to Brough of Birsay and Broch of Gurness.
Friday : With our guide we make our way to catch the ferry to the remote and beautiful Island of Hoy. We visit Dwarfie Stane and Rackwick Bay before enjoying an included lunch. This afternoon we continue to Lywara Hill; Betty Corrigal’s Grave; The Commonwealth War Graves and Scapa Flow Visitor Museum.
Saturday : We leave the hotel in Stromness this morning and make our way to Kirkwall where we enjoy some free time before making our way back to St. Margaret’s, Hope in time for our ferry back to mainland UK. We disembark the ferry at Gill’s Bay to re-join our coach for the journey to the Nethybridge Hotel for our overnight stay.
Sunday : We leave the Nethybridge Hotel and make our journey home with suitable stops en- route.
On the outward journey: Ben Wyvis Hotel, Strathpeffer ~ Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
On the return journey: Nethybridge Hotel, Nethy Bridge ~ Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
