Smithy Bridge

To all at Ellen Smith's to thank you for a most enjoyable holiday at Hotel Ambassadeur St Clement's Bay Jersey

Saturday 30 September 2017

Taxi picked me up on time taking me to Manchester Airport, The driver was cheerful and amusing.

On arrival at Jersey Airport the pick up coach was waiting and took us direct to the hotel.

What a beautiful location overlooking the bay.

After checking in I went to my room had a coffee then took a stroll to Samares Manor  , a Norman Seigneurial manor, having a magnificent herb garden, flower gardens , an orchard, a walled garden plus a cafe serving fresh produce from the estate

Sunday 1 October after Lunch took a Lazy Sunday Afternoon tour of the west and north of the island,

Oh what beautiful scenery the driver was very informative we saw many places including ,at St Peter's ,a German War tunnel formally an ammunition store now it has been converted to a mushroom farm which supplies over 90% of the mushrooms on Jersey.

Monday 2 October A tour to the German War Tunnels, Ho8 ,Which were constructed by slave labour mainly Russian working 14 hours a day 7 days a week on meagre rations , over 5000 prisoners(slave labour ).

The tunnels were over 1 Kilometre all being equipped with many items along with descriptions.

On entry we were given an Identity card  , Identitaetskarte, (copy ) when we went to the cafe we could trace the history of the person ,very informative and eye opening.

The coach brought us back to the hotel , I went to Samares Manor , using the complimentary ticket given to me on my initial visit ,for a delicious home  made lunch .

The Manor being the Horticulture Centre for Jersey.

Tuesday 3 October being spent on an Authentic  Island tour ,the coach collecting us from the hotel.

Our route included:-

St. Aubin's Bay, Noirmont Point ,St.Brelade's Bay ,  Crobiere Lighthouse, St. Ouen's Bay, Greve de Lecq  (lunch stop )Le Mourer Valley, Sorel Point, Bonne Nuit Bay, St,Caterine's Bay ( were we saw the sand sculpture created by the Sand Wizard fantasitic ) Gorey Harbour , La Rocque finally returning to the hotel.

There were plenty of photo opportunities.

Wednesday 3 October We took an inland tour of the island which included a visit to Ramsons traditional cottage tea gardens and Garden Centre , Bouley bay, also to St Matthew's , the Glass Church ah terrific. this included a wonderful  display of designed glasswork commissioned by Lady Trent in memory of her husband Jesse Boot of Boots the chemist.

Thursday 4 October Being spent on the beach opposite the hotel ,after a visit to Marks and Spencer food outlet.

Friday 5 October was spent at La Mare Wine Estate (including a tour of the wine estate & distillery, wine, cider, chocolate &fudge tasting)

On return to the hotel it  was ,sadly, time for packing as going home tomorrow.

On the way to dinner there was the best sunset ,over the bay, that I have ever seen it was fantastic.

Ah but my camera's were packed away so I missed it !(drat).I will have to go back and try again .

Saturday 6 October Return home all went very well.

A few facts:-

There are bus stops outside of the hotel.

Our Bus Passes could not be used on standard buses  on Jersey

There are plenty of buses with routes all over the Island, the standard fare being £2 per trip.

The Hotel Ambassadeur was superb 10+ on all aspects I would recommend it to anyone.

Several guests ( Ellen Smiths ) were of the same opinion

Included were three   evenings with Entertainment.

The Menu was amazing what a selection of high quality food.

The staff were so helpful and cheerful.

I would go again to this hotel.

Well what more can I add, I'm a keen photographer and used 7 SDHC cards (hundreds photographs )  during my stay.
